According to a report, fashion house Balenciaga has cut ties with Kanye West

Fashion house Balenciaga has reportedly cut ties with Ye, the rapper formerly known as Kanye West.

The move came after several of Ye's offensive comments, including anti-Semitic posts that earned him suspensions from Twitter and Instagram.

"Balenciaga no longer has any relationship or plans for future projects related to this artist," parent company Kering said in response to a query from Women's Wear Daily on Friday, without elaborating.

The company did not respond to several emails and phone calls from The Associated Press requesting comment. A representative for Ye also did not respond to a request for comment.

Ye has collaborated in several areas with Balenciaga and its artistic director Demna Gvasalia. The brand has also actively worked with Kim Kardashian, Ye's ex-wife, who has appeared in their ad campaigns and credits her ex-husband with introducing her to the brand.

BUY INSTAGRAM FOLLOWERS

Ye was recently blocked on Twitter and Instagram for anti-Semitic posts that the social networking site said violated its rules. He also implied that slavery is a choice and called the COVID-19 vaccine "the mark of the beast."

After being blocked from social networks, he offered to buy the right-leaning social network Parler.

During Paris Fashion Week, the rapper walked as a model in Balenciaga's ready-to-wear show, which designer Gvasalia called an "iconic moment" at the time. He was then spotted wearing a black Balenciaga dental brace at the Givenchy collection.

Ye was also criticized that week for wearing a T-shirt that read "White Lives Matter" to his Yeezy collection show in Paris, and the T-shirt appeared on the runway itself. According to the Southern Poverty Law Center, which tracks hate groups, White Lives Matter is a neo-Nazi group.

In recent weeks, Ye ended Yeezy's partnership with Gap and told Bloomberg that he plans to sever ties with his company's suppliers. Adidas terminated its sneaker contract with Ye, and JPMorganChase and Ye ended their business relationship - though the bank breakup was in the works before Ye's anti-Semitic comments.
